The Royal star magnolia tree blooms mid-April to early May avoiding the hazards of late frost. It has lightly scented light pink to white, 7-9" flowers that emerge from beautifully tapered buds. Best grown in normal garden soil and full sun. This make a nice ornamental tree in the landscape with a large leaf that turns yellow with bronze accents in the fall. The flower buds set in summer and stay on all winter adding a fuzzy bud for winter interest.
